Real-Life Robocop Webinar: Meeting 'Impossible' RTW Goals in Catastrophic Cases

Event Details

Start: June 14, 2018 @ 2:00PM EDT End: @ Location: Online Event

When workers survive a catastrophic injury, they often sustain significant injuries that prevent them from returning to work. Yet, technological advances are making inroads in allowing people with disabilities to regain a high level of functioning. In this can’t-miss webinar, you will meet Jeremy “Robocop” Romero, a New Mexico police officer who sustained an on-duty spinal cord injury, yet returned to policework six months after his incident.

Genex’s Trish Elizalde will join Jeremy in presenting his remarkable case study. Through Jeremy’s own words, you will witness the triumph of the human spirit as he explains the details of his accident, fight for survival, physical and psychosocial challenges of adapting to life after spinal cord injury and determination to “walk” again through the use of an exoskeleton device.

Value-Based Contracting

May 31, 2017

Value-based contracting (VBC) is one of the most talked-about topics at conferences, in stewardship meetings, and in workers’ compensation requests for proposal (RFPs). But for all the discussion around the term, one thing seems missing: a common definition. VBC seems fairly straight-forward to most observers and that might be part of the problem. Indeed, ask a half dozen people what value-based contracting means and you’ll get as many answers.

Beyond Boundaries: How an Injured Worker Became an Inspiration for All

May 25, 2017

As a case manager, a big part of my job is to motivate and advocate for injured workers. However, I often find that my inspiration to meet these goals stems from the workers themselves. Such is the case with Todd Eckley, a land surveyor who sustained an incomplete C6-7 fracture, leaving him paralyzed from the waist down and with limited use of his hands.
