As ballots continue to be counted around the country, with some races still too close to call, voters were much more certain on their support for marijuana. Here are some highlights from around the country:

  • South Dakota voters became the first state to approve medical and recreational marijuana during the same election.
  • Arizona voters approved their recreational marijuana ballot measure. The Arizona Department of Health will be tasked with laying out the ground rules for the program.
  • Nearly 67% of voters in New Jersey voted to approve recreational marijuana in the Garden State. The state legislature will need to create laws to regulate how it will be dispensed and taxed.
  • In Big Sky Country, Montana voters approved Initiatives 118 and 190. Initiative 118 raised the age for legal use of marijuana to 21 and Initiative 190 legalizes recreational marijuana.
  • Down south in the Magnolia State, Mississippi voters approved initiative 65 with 74% support, which would legalize medical marijuana in the state.

On a separate note, voters in Oregon approved Measure 109 with 55% support. The measure would legalize the medical use of psilocybin for treating mental health issues.

While the national election results might still be a little hazy, voters were very clear on their support for marijuana.
